We want you to do things that interest you, so if there are topics or projects you would like to specifically work on do not hesitate to ask or make recommendations. As an intern, you are part of a team and that being the case it is up to you to help contribute as much as possible.

Once you have reviewed this web page and had a chance to log in around look around our project management tool (Basecamp.com), please schedule a phone or Skype call with Dr. Mitroff to review things and make sure we know your goals. If you have been assigned something please finish it in the allotted week timeframe and ask questions if you are confused by something. This program is designed for you to do excellent work and to learn as much as possible. Please make sure that you have the time and self-motivation to fully commit to this program as it is on you to finish each assignment. We hope you decide to participate in our internship program. Many decide to work with us for a long time, however, upon completion of a minimum of three months, we will happily provide references or a recommendation letter upon request. We want you to get as much as possible out of this program and we cannot wait to have you as part of the team!
Basecamp: Located at www.Basecamp.com – you will be given a login. We use Basecamp to help with project management and additional resources can be found on the internship Basecamp page. Access will be given once an intern is accepted into the program.

Writing Blog Articles: When creating a blog article, make sure to use relevant material and to cite it properly. Only use reputable sources and cite only reputable industry professionals. Most articles are going to be used in order to help educate others so keep it as straightforward as possible.
If there are media such as photos, videos, etc. inserted into the blog article make sure to properly cite, label and tag them. For example, name the original image or video file name in the following format “This-Is-A-Photo.jpg” for maximum Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and then give credit to the original photo source (Flickr username, etc.) as relevant. DO NOT just search Google and use any images you find. Instead, use “Create Common” images from sources such as http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/by-2.0, Pixabay.com. This is all reviewed in the videos below.

Making Videos: When creating a video make sure it is properly formatted into .mov format so that it can be easily uploaded to multiple platforms. Make sure all information is relevant and easy to follow even by the most novice individuals.
After you make a video, please upload it to Vimeo and select it to be added to our Vimeo group located at http://www.vimeo.com/groups/piedmontave – If you do not have access, please let us know and we will send you a link to be invited and added as a member. When you upload the video, select “collections” – then “PAC Video Uploads” and the videos will be added to the group, so we can review, download and add to website pages as needed. If you have problems, email or call us and we will walk you through this.
Press Releases – HARO: Help a Reporter Out (HARO) is a located at www.helpareporter.com and is an online service set up for journalists to quickly gather feedback from the public. It is designed to enable journalists to connect with people who have expertise or experience in particular issues, so that journalists can obtain valuable advice and quotes for stories they are covering.
Utilizing HARO means having our company featured in prestigious magazines or publications. Therefore it’s important to complete at least one or two HARO submissions each week when possible.
